"Perhaps this is the moment
for which you have been created"
Esther 4:14
Through the eye of a camera
– a student
– a friend’s child
– a son
– a client
– a MEMORY
This is my journey……..
After 30 years as an elementary physical education teacher, it was time to retire. But everyone knows you can’t get it out of your system! So I started attending past students’ games, and at the same time growing a passion for photography. I took classes, read books, worked with mentors all in pursuit of getting that perfect shot, a bird, a polo player, a landscape. I would even carry my camera to the fields and shoot friend’s children playing the game. From them, I was able to received some great feedback.
All too soon though, my focus changed. My son died unexpectedly and left me with such a void. I found myself at the ballfields only to be reunited with his longtime classmates, watching their child play. I realized that I had very few photos of my son playing at that age. It hurt, but with that I was put on a path to help others! It was a part of my healing…
“A journey through grief”……..
I understood the desire of parents wanting to watch the game, to enjoy the moment as it happened, but also the need to preserve that moment in pictures. And as I looked through the lens I could envision my child, and the joy that came from being a part of that moment in time! It was and is so rewarding. I am blessed immensely and my wish is to also bless you with my gift of photography and sports.
